Pet Portraits in Edinburgh, Created from Your Photos
Edinburgh's dogs have some of the finest walks of any British city: up Arthur's Seat, across the Meadows, along the Water of Leith and down to the sand at Portobello. Pawzivra turns a photo of your pet, whatever the species, into personalised artwork created by AI and guided by styles we have chosen with care.
Several photos help: a close-up of the face plus one showing the markings gives the AI more to work from, and they are used for nothing but your artwork. Once you have paid through PayPal, files arrive by secure email link, and prints can be posted to Edinburgh addresses.
A city with a famous terrier
The small bronze statue of Greyfriars Bobby near Greyfriars Kirkyard shows how long Edinburgh has cherished its dogs. If your own terrier has that loyal look, a Victorian-era portrait could suit them well.
Places to photograph your pet
Holyrood Park and the Meadows
Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags give you rock and sky on a grand scale, while the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links offer open grass lined with trees. Blackford Hill looks back across the Old Town.
Coast and river
Portobello's promenade, the shore at Cramond and the Water of Leith Walkway are all well loved by dog walkers. Check the tide times before crossing the Cramond causeway.
Haar, long evenings and short days
Sea mist, known locally as haar, can drift in from the Forth and flatten the light. It is gentle on faces but low on contrast, so get close and keep the eyes sharp. Summer evenings stay bright late, giving a long golden hour, while winter afternoons darken early. Our guide to better pet photos has more ideas.
When people order
Hogmanay gifts, a dog's birthday, the arrival of a rescue greyhound, or a tribute to a cat who lived to a great age. Browse the classic fine art collection, then start your portrait when you are ready.

Our services in Edinburgh
Classic fine art portraits
Drawing on the portrait traditions found in grand galleries, the oil, Renaissance and classical studio styles give your pet deep colour and careful light. They suit New Town drawing rooms with tall windows and space for a substantial frame.
Royal & character portraits
Inspired by centuries of costume portraiture, from royal courts to Victorian parlours. Terriers look splendid in a high collar, and cats, rabbits and ponies can all take on a role with the same mock-serious dignity.
Watercolour & sketch portraits
Rooted in the sketchbook: pencil, charcoal and ink wash, alongside soft pastel watercolour and minimal line art. These quieter styles suit stone-coloured walls and draw out wiry terrier coats, long whiskers and fine feathers in close detail.
Colourful & modern portraits
Borrowing from poster design, comic art and twentieth-century pop prints, these styles use bold colour and clean shapes. A bright portrait cheers up a Marchmont flat through the darkest months, when the sun sets mid-afternoon.
Minimal & keepsake portraits
Following the old tradition of mourning keepsakes and cameo silhouettes, these pared-back designs include black and white and a portrait with your pet's name. Our software adds any text, so it appears exactly as typed.
Scenes & group portraits
Like the conversation pieces of earlier centuries, which gathered families and their animals into one painting, these portraits combine several pets, or you and your pet, in a single scene or setting of your choice.
Printed, framed & canvas portraits
Framed prints, canvases, art prints and posters made by our professional partner and posted across the UK and US. Before you pay, a proof shows the crop and lettering, so you can make changes first.
Digital downloads
A modern take on the family album: high-resolution files downloaded from a secure, expiring link. Share them with relatives, print them at home or keep them safe, and request an extra version if you want another look.
Questions from Edinburgh
Will a parcel find my flat on a shared stair?
Yes. Flats are fine, so include the flat position and any stair door details in your address. Our print partner sends the parcel by post or courier, and tracking reaches you by email if it is issued. Allow plenty of time before gift dates.
How do I photograph my dog when the haar is in?
Mist gives soft, even light, which is kind to faces but can look flat. Move close so the face fills the frame and keep the eyes sharp. A bright window indoors is a good backup on very grey days.
Do you make horse and pony portraits too?
Yes, horses and ponies are welcome, along with any other animal. Photograph your horse in daylight with the head and ears clearly visible, slightly from one side, against a tidy background so the markings stand out.
What should a memorial portrait include?
Most people choose their clearest photo, a gentle style such as watercolour or the memorial tribute, and the pet's name with dates or a short line. Our software adds the words, so the spelling is exactly what you typed.
Is my photo kept after the portrait is made?
Originals are deleted after 30 days, and you can ask us to delete them sooner. They are used only to make your artwork, sent to our AI image provider for that purpose, and never used in marketing without permission.
