Custom cat portraits with all their dignity intact

Cats rarely pose on request, but most owners have at least one photo that captures them perfectly: the slow blink on the windowsill, the tabby stretched across the radiator, the look of quiet judgement. Upload it, tell us about your cat, choose a style and add their name. Your portrait is created by AI and the text is set by our software, so it's spelled exactly as you type it. Moggies and pedigrees are equally welcome.

Styles that suit cats

Cats have a natural air of self-importance that suits a surprising range of styles, from grand to graphic.

For the cat who expects respect

The Renaissance old master style puts your cat in the rich colours and dark backgrounds of early oil paintings. If you'd like a little more swagger, the aristocrat adds period clothing and an expression of mild disdain that many cats manage without help.

For elegant simplicity

Monochrome ink wash suits sleek, short-haired cats and black cats in particular, using shape and tone rather than colour.

For bright, modern rooms

The bright pop art style turns a tabby or a ginger into a bold block of colour, ideal for a kitchen or a child's room.

Tabbies, tortoiseshells and other markings

Owners know their cat's markings by heart: the M on a tabby's forehead, the half-ginger face of a tortoiseshell, the single white sock. These are the details that make a portrait feel like your cat rather than any cat, so it helps to tell us about them when you order. A note such as "tabby and white, white bib, green eyes" is ideal.

Complex patterns can shift slightly between versions, especially on tortoiseshells and calicos. Upload two or three clear photos from slightly different angles, and use Try another version if a patch has wandered. Pedigree breeds with distinctive faces, such as Persians or Sphynx cats, also benefit from a sharp, front-on photo.

Photo tips for cats

  • Wait for a calm moment. Cats are often most relaxed and still in the late afternoon or just after waking.
  • Use window light. Many cats already choose the sunniest spot, so photograph them there with the light falling on their face.
  • Get the eyes sharp. Tap the screen on the nearest eye; eye colour is one of the details owners notice first.
  • For black cats, avoid dim rooms. For white cats, avoid harsh direct sun.
  • A feather or a rustle of paper just above the lens can bring the ears forward.

Gift and memorial ideas

A cat portrait makes a good gift for a birthday, a new home or anyone who talks about their cat more than their family. Add the cat's name or a short line, and choose a framed print or canvas if you'd like it delivered ready to hang.

For a cat who has died, many owners prefer a gentle, uncluttered style. Our keepsake collection includes memorial and black and white designs with room for a name and dates.

Questions people ask

Will the portrait keep my cat's eye colour?

We aim to keep eye colour, markings and face shape, and a sharp, well-lit photo of the eyes helps most. AI results vary, so you can request another version if the colour isn't right.

Do portraits work for long-haired cats?

Yes. A photo in soft daylight that shows the face clearly works best, as long fur can hide the outline of the face in dim light.

Can I put two cats in one portrait?

Yes. Choose the multi-pet family portrait style and upload a clear photo of each cat so both faces are easy to see.

My cat won't look at the camera. Will a side view work?

A three-quarter view usually works well. A full side profile can be harder for some styles, so upload a few photos from different angles if you have them.
