Custom Pet Portraits in Boston
Boston gave its name to one of America's best-loved small breeds, and the city's dogs, from Boston terriers to retrievers, have plenty of history around them on their daily walks. Pawzivra turns a photo of your pet into a custom portrait created by AI and guided by styles we have curated, whether you picture a colonial-era general or a quiet pencil sketch.
No account is required. Your order page is reached by a secure emailed link, and you can look up an order with your email and order number. Pay with PayPal, download your files, and have a print shipped to your Boston address.
Boston's own breed
The Boston terrier was developed in the city in the late 1800s, and its tuxedo markings and big round eyes come through crisply in a black and white portrait. Owners of other breeds can browse the dog portraits page for ideas.
Where to photograph your pet
The Common and the Public Garden
Boston Common's lawns and old trees give you a classic city backdrop. Dogs are not allowed inside the Public Garden, so photograph them on the Common side instead.
The Esplanade, the Arboretum and Castle Island
The Charles River Esplanade has water and skyline views, and the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain offers seasonal blossoms and fall color, with dogs on leash. Castle Island and the paths around Pleasure Bay in South Boston give sea breezes and open sky.
New England seasons and light
Fall foliage makes a rich backdrop, and winter snow brightens everything, so make sure your pet's face is not too dark. Gray, misty days near the harbor give soft light that suits close-ups. Our pet photography guide has more.
Gifts and memories
A graduation photo with the family dog, a gift for a college roommate who misses their cat, a new rescue or a tribute to a pet who has died are all good reasons to create your custom portrait.

Our services in Boston
Classic fine art portraits
Traditional oil, realistic painted and classical studio portraits with depth, warm color and careful detail. A natural fit for a Back Bay brownstone or a Beacon Hill rowhouse, where period interiors suit something timeless and calm.
Royal & character portraits
Your pet as a monarch, an aristocrat, a general or a figure from history, complete with costume and formal pose. A Boston terrier in a tricorn hat is just the sort of thing these playful styles do well.
Watercolor & sketch portraits
Pastel watercolor, bold splashes, monochrome ink, graphite pencil, charcoal and minimal line art. These lighter looks suit calm bedrooms and home studies, and they render the crisp black and white markings of tuxedo-coated breeds especially well.
Colorful & modern portraits
Pop art, multicolor paint splash, contemporary acrylic, graphic poster, digital illustration and cartoon. A bright, graphic portrait cheers up a long gray New England winter, and it suits pets whose personality fills the whole room.
Minimal & keepsake portraits
Simple keepsake designs including a silhouette, gallery-style art, black and white and a portrait with a handwritten-style name. The memorial tribute style adds dates or a few words, placed by our software exactly as typed.
Scenes & group portraits
A family portrait with every pet in the house, you with your dog or cat, or scenes such as fall leaves, a holiday backdrop, a meadow or a birthday party. You can describe a custom scene of your own as well.
Printed, framed & canvas portraits
Hang-ready pieces in four formats, produced by our professional print partner and shipped to addresses in the US and the UK. A proof of the crop and lettering is yours to approve before you pay.
Digital downloads
High-resolution digital files sent through a secure, expiring email link. Share them with family, print them at home or keep them safe, and request one of your included extra versions to compare a few different takes.
Questions from Boston
Do you ship prints to Cambridge and Somerville?
Yes. Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, Quincy and every corner of Greater Boston are reachable by our print partner's US shipping. We send tracking by email once the partner issues it. Delivery days are not guaranteed, so allow extra time before the holidays.
What style suits a Boston terrier?
Their tuxedo markings and expressive eyes look striking in black and white or ink wash, while a royal or military general portrait plays up their dapper look. Photograph them at eye level so their round eyes are sharp and clear.
Can I use a fall foliage photo?
Yes. Bright fall leaves make a lovely backdrop as long as your pet's face is sharp and not lost against similar colors. Shoot in soft light, ideally on a bright overcast day, and keep your pet a little away from busy backgrounds.
Can I send a portrait as a gift to someone in another state?
Yes. Printed products can be shipped to any US address, and to the UK. Enter the recipient's address at checkout. For a digital gift, download the high-resolution files from your link and send them on yourself.
Do I need a PayPal account?
PayPal handles every payment. Depending on PayPal's settings at the time, you may be able to pay by card through PayPal without signing in, or you can use your PayPal balance. We do not accept other payment methods.
