Bird portraits for parrots, budgies, hens and more

Birds are full of character and colour, yet most pet portrait shops are built around cats and dogs. We make portraits of parrots, budgies, cockatiels, canaries, chickens, ducks and any other bird you share your life with. Upload a clear photo, tell us the species, choose a style and add a name. Your portrait is created by AI, and names are set by our software so they're spelled exactly as you type them. Single birds, pairs and whole flocks are all welcome.

Styles that suit birds

Feathers and plumage give birds a natural advantage in art, and a few styles make the most of it.

A nod to natural history

Vintage illustration recalls the hand-coloured plates in old bird books. It's a natural fit for parrots, finches and hens with distinctive plumage.

Loose and colourful

An expressive watercolour splash lets bright feathers spill out into colour, which suits budgies, lovebirds and macaws.

Surrounded by flowers

The decorative floral oil style frames your bird with blooms and foliage, a lovely setting for a canary or a cockatiel.

Clean and modern

Modern digital illustration gives crisp lines and flat colour, which works well for prints in a bright room.

Tell us the species

There are many kinds of pet bird, and some look alike at a glance. A note such as "African grey", "pied budgie", "lutino cockatiel" or "Buff Orpington hen" helps the artwork keep the right size, beak shape and colouring. If you know the colour variety, add that too.

Birds can be tricky subjects for AI. Fine feather patterns, crests and the exact shade of an eye ring may vary between versions, and very small birds lose detail if they only fill a corner of the photo. Upload a couple of clear, close shots where you can, and use Try another version if the first result doesn't quite capture your bird. Pairs and flocks can share a portrait too, using the multi-pet family style.

Photo tips for birds

  • Avoid shooting through cage bars, which confuse the bird's outline. Photograph during time out of the cage, on a perch or on a hand.
  • Use daylight from a window. Indoor bulbs can shift feather colours, especially greens and blues.
  • Get the eye sharp. On small birds, tap the screen directly on the eye before you shoot.
  • For hens and ducks, crouch to their level outdoors on a bright, overcast day.
  • Birds move quickly, so use burst mode and pick the sharpest frame.

Gift and memorial ideas

Many parrots live for decades, and a portrait is a good way to mark a long friendship or a hatch day. For backyard flocks, a portrait of a favourite hen makes a cheerful kitchen print. Add the bird's name and choose a print or canvas if you'd like it delivered.

For a bird who has died, our keepsake collection offers quiet styles with space for a name and dates.

Questions people ask

Will the feather colours be accurate?

We aim to keep species, plumage colour and markings. Photos taken in daylight help most, as indoor lighting can shift greens and blues. AI results vary, so you can request another version.

Can you make a portrait of a chicken or duck?

Yes. Any bird is welcome. Tell us the species or breed so the artwork keeps the right comb, beak and feathers.

Can I include two birds in one portrait?

Yes. The multi-pet family portrait style is designed for more than one animal. Upload a clear photo of each bird.

My bird is very small in the photo. Will that work?

It may lose detail. Crop the photo so the bird fills more of the frame, keeping the whole head and beak in view, or take a closer shot.
