The two of you, together
Some of the best pet pictures are the ones where someone is holding them. This style creates a painted portrait of a person and their pet side by side, cheek to cheek or with an arm around a shoulder, in a soft, warm portrait style. It works from a photo of the pet and a separate photo of the person, so you do not need a perfect shot of the two of you together.
Look and setting
The finish is a gentle, lightly textured painting with natural skin tones and coat colours, and soft window light. Backgrounds are calm: a cosy sofa, a garden bench, a simple studio tone or a countryside view.
Who it suits
It is a heartfelt gift for a partner, parent or child who shares a strong bond with their pet, and a lovely way to mark a new arrival, a retirement or a long friendship. Two pets can join one person.
Photos you will need
Upload a clear photo of each pet and a clear photo of the person, both well lit and facing the camera or slightly to the side. Make sure the person's face is not hidden by sunglasses or a hat, and that you have their permission to use their photo. Our photography tips explain how to get matching light. Horses, dogs, cats, parrots on a shoulder and even ferrets in arms all work well.
Text and print ideas
Add both names, or a short line like "Best friends", in a script or elegant serif along the bottom. Framed prints and canvases suit the warmth of the scene. For a group of pets without people, see the multi-pet family portrait.
This is AI-generated artwork; likenesses of both person and pet can vary. Upload your photos to start.
About this style
Do I need a photo of us together?
No. The style works from a separate photo of the person and a photo of each pet, then combines them into one painted portrait. A photo of you together is fine too, as long as both faces are clear. Matching light in both photos gives a more natural result.
Can two pets join one person?
Yes. One person can be joined by a maximum of two pets here. Upload a clear photo of each pet and one of the person. If you would like more people or more pets, the multi-pet family portrait or a custom scene may be a better fit.
Is the person's likeness guaranteed?
No. AI-generated portraits aim to keep facial features, hair and skin tone, but cannot promise an exact likeness of the person or the pet. Clear, well-lit, front-facing photos help most. If either face looks wrong, you can ask for a fresh attempt using your included versions.
